SaltPro SXT™

What is SaltPro SXT™

SaltPro SXT™ is a proprietary, patent pending, technology that substantially reduces salt deposition problems that occur in gas and condensate processing facilities. Condensate produced from unconventional shale plays such as the Montney and Duvernay result in a produced water with a high total dissolved solid (TDS) content. The produced water contains salt which can deposit in the stabilizer system potentially leading to corrosion.

How Does It Work?

The patent-pending SaltPro SXT™ process reduces up to 95% of the salt deposition in a typical stabilization fractionating column by altering the way the stabilization process occurs. Operating conditions are controlled in the stabilizer fractionating system in order to minimize the deposition of salt while still meeting sales condensate specifications. The SaltPro SXT™ process takes advantage of salt’s natural affinity for water in order to remove a considerable amount of the salt prior to deposition in the stabilization equipment.

Does It Cost More?

SaltPro SXT™ can be incorporated into a new facility for practically the same cost as a traditional reboiler/stabilizer system. Retrofit of existing facilities is possible and, despite the cost to retrofit, the economics associated with savings in downtime and maintenance costs are extremely attractive.

How Does It Benefit Me?

SaltPro SXT™ can reduce up to 95% of salt deposition. This results in lower overall maintenance and upkeep costs.

  • Minimal impact to product quality
  • Reduced corrosion potential
  • Less downtime and maintenance costs associated with reboiler flushes and/or bundle cleaning
  • Less salt deposition and associated disposal costs
  • Lower reboiler operating temperature and duty consumption

GLE’s engineers have completed simulations that show the salt reduction potential of the SaltPro SXT™ technology. The attached table demonstrates the beneficial impact, reductions in salt deposition of upwards of 95% are possible. These will benefit the producers through reduced operating and maintenance costs along with increased revenue. GLE is currently looking for an operator to field pilot the SaltPro SXT™ technology on. Early adapters will be offered this technology at commercially attractive terms. Please contact GLE at sales@gasliquids.com for more details.
